The 17th anniversary of the first "Bitcoin" tweet, community commemorates Hal Finney's early contributions

Odaily Planet Daily reports that the late early Bitcoin contributor Hal Finney's widow posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, stating that 17 years ago today, Hal Finney (@Halfin) posted the first tweet mentioning Bitcoin, "Running bitcoin," and announced the launch of the fifth "Running Bitcoin Challenge."

Hal Finney was the recipient of Satoshi Nakamoto's first Bitcoin transfer and played a key role in the development and operation of early Bitcoin versions. He passed away due to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
