According to The Block, a16z crypto has completed a $2.2 billion fifth fund, down from the $4.5 billion fourth fund in 2022. The venture capital firm’s crypto arm said it intentionally returned to a smaller fund size. “Shorter fundraising cycles allow us to keep pace with evolving crypto trends,” said a16z crypto partner Paul Cafiero.

The firm also promoted CTO Eddy Lazzarin to general partner, making him the fourth GP alongside Chris Dixon, Ali Yahya, and Guy Wuollet.
