a16z Crypto Executive: Stablecoin Terminology May Gradually Fade as Tech Evolves

GateNews

According to PANews, a16z Crypto special projects lead Robert Hackett wrote on May 1 that stablecoin terminology is gradually losing its relevance. Hackett noted that while stablecoins emerged to address volatility concerns, stability has now become a foundational baseline rather than an innovation itself, as the industry shifts focus from “whether assets are stable” to “what can be built.” He suggested the term may eventually be superseded by broader expressions like “digital dollar” or “on-chain assets.”
