AI Agents Processing $73M in Crypto Need System-Wide Security, Researchers Warn

According to researchers from Google and Meta, AI agents require system-wide defensive architectures rather than traditional cybersecurity tools alone. The concern is intensifying as autonomous agents increasingly handle financial operations, payments, and trading. Keyrock reported that AI agents processed $73 million in crypto payments between 2025 and 2026. Security vulnerabilities in agent systems rarely stay isolated; compromised instructions can spread through memory and planning systems before becoming visible externally. On May 20, crypto trading assistant Bankr disabled transactions after identifying an attacker who gained access to at least 14 wallets, highlighting growing real-world risks in autonomous AI systems.
