AirTrunk Acquires Lumina CloudInfra to Enter India with 600 MW Capacity

Gate News message, April 20 — AirTrunk has acquired Lumina CloudInfra, an Indian data center developer, providing the company entry into India with approximately 600 MW of planned capacity.

The acquisition was part of Blackstone's strategy to consolidate its India data center assets under AirTrunk, its Asia-Pacific platform. Lumina was previously held within Blackstone's portfolio. AirTrunk said it could support up to $5 billion in future development, though the acquisition price was not disclosed. Following the deal, AirTrunk will operate more than 3 GW of capacity across 20 campuses in Australia, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and India.

The expansion comes as demand for cloud, AI, and data localization infrastructure in India continues to rise. However, the addition of 600 MW will increase pressure on India's already-strained power market. Data centers in Mumbai alone account for approximately 5% of peak electricity demand, and operators across the country face ongoing challenges securing reliable power supply.
