Alps Blockchain Converts 127MW Power Plant to Bitcoin Mining in Bolivia With 1.23 EH/s Hashrate

According to Bits.media, Italian energy company Alps Blockchain and Bolivian firm Qurubiqa launched Bitcoin mining operations at a previously idle 127-megawatt natural gas thermal power plant in Cochabamba Province on May 26. The facility currently consumes 27 megawatts of electricity and achieves a hashrate of 1.23 EH/s, with plans to increase power consumption to 45 megawatts by year-end. Mining equipment directly uses power plant generation without connecting to the public grid.
