According to SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won, who disclosed the information at an AI industry event in San Francisco, Anthropic has formally approached SK Hynix (SKHY-US) for semiconductor components to support its in-house chip development initiative. Choi noted the AI startup's ambitions in the chip sector as "remarkable." Anthropic's self-design efforts, unveiled in April 2026, span both application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and graphics processing units (GPUs). In May 2026, SK Hynix participated alongside Samsung Electronics and Micron Technology (MU-US) in Anthropic's Series H funding round. SK Hynix completed its Nasdaq listing on July 10 with a valuation of $26.5 billion.
