Argentina's Central Bank Approves Dollar Salary Accounts at Private Banks

According to Argentina's Central Bank, on Friday the institution issued Communication A 8460 directing private banks to accept U.S. dollars for wage operations. The directive requires financial institutions to include the dollar as an accepted currency for salary account deposits and to provide withdrawal services in dollars at no cost. The move follows the Labor Modernization Law, which previously authorized foreign currency wage payments but excluded digital wallets. The policy targets dollar-earning companies such as commodity exporters and software development firms, many of which were already paying employees in dollars informally through foreign accounts. Adoption depends on worker willingness to receive payments through local banks, given historical distrust stemming from Argentina's 2001 withdrawal restrictions.
