Armed Clashes in Western Libya Kill at Least 5 on May 8

According to Libyan media reports, armed clashes erupted in Zawiyah, western Libya, on May 8, killing at least 5 people, including a security officer at Zawiyah refinery. Multiple armed groups engaged in intense fighting in the city center and surrounding areas starting in the early morning. Zawiyah Oil Company stated that heavy artillery shells struck its facilities, prompting the company to shut down the refinery and evacuate tankers from the port.
