AT&T Raises $10B Buyback Plan 25%, Q2 Earnings Beat with 1M+ New Broadband Users

T3.44%

According to AT&T's Q2 2026 earnings report released on its earnings call, the telecom giant beat expectations with more than 1 million net additions of high-speed broadband subscribers in the quarter—the best single-quarter result in company history. Riding dual engines of fiber-optic and 5G expansion, AT&T significantly increased its full-year share buyback program by 25% to a total of $10 billion, citing the gap between market valuation and operational fundamentals.

The company's convergence strategy is proving highly effective, with customers subscribing to both fiber and mobile services now representing 42.5% of the customer base. These bundled customers show lower churn rates and higher brand loyalty, becoming a core driver of overall service revenue and profit growth. AT&T expects full-year free cash flow to exceed $18 billion while maintaining capital expenditures between $23 and $24 billion.
