Gate News message, April 29 — Amazon Web Services announced that its Bedrock platform now supports OpenAI’s latest models, including Codex, alongside a new managed agent service. The move follows changes to OpenAI’s agreement with Microsoft, which had previously granted Azure exclusive rights to certain OpenAI products.
Bedrock Managed Agents is purpose-built for OpenAI’s reasoning models and includes agent steering and security controls. The announcement comes after OpenAI and Amazon signed a deal valued at up to $50 billion, which prompted the restructuring of OpenAI’s original partnership terms with Microsoft.
The development reflects a broader shift in cloud competition, with OpenAI now able to offer all its products across multiple cloud providers. AWS Bedrock already hosts models from Anthropic, Meta, Mistral, and other AI developers, positioning the platform as a multi-model hub rather than a single-vendor offering.
