Bittensor Co-Founder Acknowledges Protocol Centralization, Targets Full Decentralization Within 18 Months

TAO-5.67%
Bittensor co-founder Jacob Steeves acknowledged recently that the protocol is not yet fully decentralized, with the network still relying on core-team control in key areas, while outlining an 18-month roadmap to achieve complete decentralization. Steeves said the current structure was a strategic decision during the rapid development phase rather than a design failure. The planned changes include stronger validator competition, liquidity pools, a conviction mechanism that allows TAO holders to signal long-term commitment, and steps to remove value extractors from the ecosystem.
