Botanix Layer-2 Project Ceases Operations on July 9, 2026, Citing Unsustainable Business Model

Botanix, a Bitcoin Layer-2 project focused on decentralized finance solutions, announced it will cease operations on July 9, 2026. The team stated the business model is not sustainable under current market conditions, as Bitcoin-based DeFi applications have not achieved expected user adoption and demand is being met by Wrapped Bitcoin and general-purpose Layer-2 networks.

The project cited user preference for ease of use over decentralization as a key challenge. Botanix users must withdraw all assets before the July 9 shutdown date to avoid access issues.
