According to the IMF's latest financial system stability assessment released this month, Brazil's cryptocurrency-based cross-border flows have surpassed traditional capital movements since 2017. The flows are predominantly driven by stablecoins, with businesses and individuals using them for efficiency and tax-related reasons. IMF noted that stablecoin movements correlate with international and domestic investment indicators including S&P 500, VIX, and bitcoin prices, while also being influenced by exchange rates, interest rates, policy uncertainty, and tax policy changes.
