On the 29th, luxury jewelry brand Bvlgari announced the introduction of a blockchain-based “Digital Passport” system for its watch product line to enhance customer experience and strengthen product authenticity verification. The system stores technical specifications, warranty information, authenticity certificates, and tracking data on blockchain, making the records tamper-proof and immutable.

Digital Passport Features and Technology

The Digital Passport system is built on Aura blockchain, a dedicated authenticity verification blockchain platform. Each watch’s technical specifications, warranty details, authenticity certification, certificates, and tracking data are recorded on the blockchain. Customers can access this information through a dedicated mobile application or website, where they can view the product’s manufacturing process, design background, and artisan craftsmanship details.

The system is designed to verify product authenticity and enable history tracking while maintaining data integrity over time, according to Bvlgari’s announcement.

Market Context and Brand Strategy

Bvlgari’s implementation reflects broader trends in the luxury industry, where consumer interest in product origin and authenticity verification is increasing. Digital authentication and tracking systems have become key elements in building brand trust and maintaining long-term customer relationships.

Fabricio Buonamassa Stigliani, Bvlgari Watch Creative Director, stated: “The Digital Passport is an original function and important milestone in the Swiss watchmaking industry, representing an example of datamatrix technology advancing customer experience. By connecting each watch to a digital passport, we can provide more secure authenticity verification and strengthen transparency and interaction with customers.”

Technical specifications are stored on the blockchain, so when repairing the watch, the master can directly scan the code to view the movement parameters.

Warranty information stored on the blockchain, so in case of disputes, there's proof. Good thing.

I saw the message sent on the 29th only on the 30th. Is the on-chain information already outdated?

Bulgari's move is quite steady; traditional luxury brands are finally starting to seriously engage with blockchain.

Traditional jewelry + blockchain, this combo is like wearing a suit while breakdancing—awkward but kinda cool.

Digital Passport sounds fancy, but I just want to know how to transfer ownership when reselling.

Just want to ask, can this passport be linked to my NFT wallet to create a watch face skin?
