Cardano Foundation, Volvo Discuss Blockchain for Supply Chain Sanctions Compliance

According to Foresight News, the Cardano Foundation and Volvo Group discussed blockchain technology applications in manufacturing. Ivan Branco, responsible for IT, AI, and data analytics at Volvo's Belgium truck operations, highlighted supply chain compliance as a critical blockchain use case, noting that manufacturers risk repeated fines if assembled components contain parts from sanctioned countries. A shared ledger across suppliers could eliminate trust issues at the source, he said.

Volvo previously created a proprietary cryptocurrency for internal testing of supplier payment processes. Branco acknowledged the technology is ready, but organizational culture has yet to catch up, presenting a greater challenge than technical implementation.
