CFTC Engages Major U.S. Sports Leagues on Prediction Market Oversight

According to ChainCatcher, CFTC Chair Michael Selig said the regulator is engaging with major U.S. professional sports leagues to strengthen oversight of sports-related prediction markets and prevent insider trading and market manipulation. Selig disclosed at a FINRA annual conference in Washington that the CFTC previously signed an information-sharing memorandum of understanding with Major League Baseball, marking the agency’s first formal data-sharing agreement with a professional sports league.
