China Achieves Basic Full Coverage of Garbage Classification in 297 Cities; 1,137 Incinerators Process 1.18M Tons Daily as of End-2025

According to China's Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, as of end-2025, garbage classification has achieved basic full coverage across 297 prefecture-level and above cities. The country now operates 1,137 incineration facilities with a daily processing capacity of 1.18 million tons. Fifteen provinces and municipalities, including Beijing, Zhejiang, and Shandong, have achieved zero landfill disposal of original domestic waste. To support these efforts, over 199 local regulations and 100-plus technical standards on garbage classification have been established nationwide.
