China-Built Light Rail in Astana Officially Opens with 22.4-km First Phase, 18 Stations on May 16

According to Xinhua, the first phase of the Astana Light Rail project, built by Chinese enterprises, officially opened on May 16. The 22.4-kilometer line features 18 stations and connects major landmarks including the airport, Nazarbayev University, the National Museum, and the new railway station. It is Central Asia’s first urban light rail system.
