According to the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and National Supervision Commission on May 25, China investigated 21,889 violations of the central eight-point rule during April 2026, with 27,852 officials criticized or sanctioned, including 18,649 receiving Party discipline or administrative penalties. The monthly report marked the 152nd consecutive month of such disclosures.
Formalism and bureaucratism accounted for 83.6% of investigated cases, with 9,448 instances involving dereliction of duty affecting high-quality development. Violations of gift restrictions represented 58.6% of investigated cases, followed by illegal dining expenses at 20.0% and irregular allowances at 11.7%. Among targeted ranks, 20,485 violations involved grassroots officials, accounting for 93.6% of total cases.
