China to Strengthen Legislative Framework for AI, Digital Economy, and Blockchain

Gate News message, April 17 — China will accelerate the development of a network legal system adapted to internet development needs, with particular emphasis on strengthening legislation in artificial intelligence, digital economy, network infrastructure, satellite internet, and blockchain sectors, according to an article by the Central Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) published in Qiushi magazine.

The policy aims to ensure that wherever information technology development advances, network legislation will extend its coverage. As of December 2025, China has enacted more than 180 pieces of legislation in the network sector.

The article noted that despite progress, the targeted nature and effectiveness of current network legislation still fall short of public expectations relative to the rapid pace of information technology development.
