China's Foreign Ministry Responds to EU Trade Criticism as European Heat Wave Drives Demand for Chinese Air Conditioners

According to China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning on July 6, Chinese-made air conditioners, fans, and cooling umbrellas have become highly sought after in Europe amid a severe heat wave, with some items reported as out of stock. Mao stated that "surplus or shortage are judged by consumers themselves." He emphasized that products meeting market demand at good prices naturally attract buyers, adding that the trade structure between China and Europe reflects market-driven, complementary advantages. "In China-EU trade, consumers benefit and suppliers profit. It is never forced trading, but mutual choice and shared benefits," Mao said, calling on European stakeholders to view bilateral economic relations objectively.
