China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun responded on May 18 to Japan-related issues following discussions between Chinese and U.S. leaders during President Trump’s visit to China. The spokesperson criticized Japanese right-wing forces for attempting to challenge the post-war international order and undermining peace in the Asia-Pacific region. Guo urged Japan to correct its statements regarding Taiwan, halt its military expansion, and return to neighborly cooperation and peaceful development, while taking concrete actions to build trust with Asian neighbors and the international community.
