China's Machinery Ministry Assigns Digital IDs to Humanoid Robots

GateNews

According to South China Morning Post, on May 28, China's machinery authority launched a digital identity system for humanoid robots. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's robotics standards committee will assign unique identification codes to each bipedal humanoid robot produced domestically, enabling full-lifecycle tracking from manufacturing to recycling.

The initiative covers production, deployment, and end-of-life stages across the entire supply chain including manufacturers, service providers, retailers, users, and recyclers. The system aims to strengthen risk monitoring, enhance regulatory oversight, and promote standardization in the humanoid robotics industry.
