Cisco Completes $400M Astrix Security Acquisition

Acquisition Details

Cisco has completed its acquisition of Astrix Security, an Israeli cybersecurity startup focused on non-human identities, for approximately US$400 million. The company will integrate Astrix's technology into Cisco Identity Intelligence, Duo, Secure Access, and Splunk.

About Astrix Security

Astrix was founded in 2021 by Alon Jackson and Idan Gour. Prior to the acquisition, the startup had raised US$85 million in total funding, including a US$45 million Series B round announced in December 2024. That Series B was backed by Menlo Ventures, Workday Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, CRV, and F2 Venture Capital.

Strategic Context

The acquisition reflects growing enterprise demand for machine identity security. According to Cisco, the move comes as more companies deploy AI agents and automated tools that rely on machine identities such as API keys and service accounts.

Non-human identity management is indeed a blind spot; Cisco's coverage is quite accurate.

400M isn't expensive, but can integrating into Duo and Splunk deliver a combined punch?

This track has been very popular recently, with Okta and Microsoft also keeping an eye on it, Cisco is taking the lead.

400 million dollars, just Cisco's petty cash, the key is whether it can avoid ending up like previous acquisitions with poor integration.

Cisco's $400 million purchase of Astrix this time is a bet on non-human identities.
