Clarity Act Expected to Miss August 7 Deadline Before Senate Recess, Thune Says

According to CoinDesk, Senate Majority Leader John Thune said on Thursday that the US Digital Asset Market Clarity Act is unlikely to pass before the August 7 deadline ahead of the chamber's summer recess. Thune indicated he would like to at least begin floor consideration before lawmakers leave for their state work period on August 10, potentially preserving a path for the Senate to resume work when returning on September 14.

As of Thursday, the bill had not entered floor consideration, with the Senate focused on judicial nominations, an Iran war powers resolution, and the annual defense authorization bill. Any amended version approved by senators would need to return to the House before reaching President Donald Trump's desk, further complicating passage amid midterm election pressure.
