According to Colossus magazine, Cognition founder Scott Wu stated in a recent three-hour interview that artificial intelligence has already surpassed humans in pure logical reasoning. Wu argued that humanity’s remaining competitive advantage lies in memory retrieval—the ability to suddenly recall relevant information from past experiences. He described this as “soft context,” referring to accumulated professional knowledge triggered by contextual cues, which differs from verbatim memorization. Wu noted that AI systems currently struggle to replicate this cross-temporal and cross-scenario associative retrieval despite their larger context windows. He added that AI is pursuing two approaches to close this gap: vector-based embedding search to extract relevant historical data, and continual learning to enable AI to update its weights during operation.
