Coinbase Freezes $3M in Crypto on June 3 as DOJ Disruption Week Targets 1.4M Scam Accounts

According to Coinbase, on June 3 the exchange froze more than $3 million in cryptocurrency assets tied to criminal scam networks across Southeast Asia. The action was part of the U.S. Department of Justice's Disruption Week initiative held May 18-21, which coordinated Apple, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Coinbase, and Starlink against online fraud operations. The coordinated effort targeted romance scams, investment fraud, and forced labor compounds, disrupting over 1.4 million accounts, freezing $3.8 million in total cryptocurrency, and resulting in 63 arrests including seven in Thailand.
