According to El Salvador's Central Bank, digital currency remittances reached $35.4 million in the first half of 2026, accounting for less than 1% of the country's total external remittances of over $5 billion during the period. The figure represents a 39.1% increase compared to $25.4 million in H1 2025, yet traditional channels—remittance companies and banks—continue to dominate, intermediating over 84% of funds received from abroad.
