According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a large multistate cyclospora outbreak linked to iceberg lettuce has expanded to nine states. The outbreak newly spread to Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania, joining Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, and Michigan. The CDC reported thousands of cases, marking the largest cyclospora outbreak recorded in the U.S. this year, significantly exceeding the typical annual count of 200–1,000 cases.
