DeepL Cuts 25% of Workforce (About 250 Employees) to Restructure AI Business

According to Bloomberg, translation tool company DeepL announced today, May 7, that it will lay off approximately 25% of its workforce, about 250 employees, to adapt to structural changes driven by artificial intelligence. CEO Jarek Kutylowski said on LinkedIn the company will reduce management layers and accelerate decision-making to address the AI era. DeepL, founded in 2017 and headquartered in Cologne, is viewed as a Google Translate competitor and raised $300 million in 2024 at a $2 billion valuation.
