DeepSeek Recruits Beijing Team to Build Claude Code Rival, V4 Flash at $0.14 Per Million Tokens

DEEPSEEK-2.56%
According to Deli Chen, a DeepSeek engineer, on May 20, the company announced it is recruiting a team in Beijing to build Code Harness, a native agentic coding tool designed to compete directly with Anthropic's Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex. The team is hiring a product manager and an R&D engineer. DeepSeek's V4 Flash model, released on April 24, runs at $0.14 per million input tokens—over 100 times cheaper than Claude Opus 4.7's $15 per million tokens, giving any native Code Harness tool a significant cost advantage for developers running continuous, loop-heavy agent pipelines.
