Deepwater's Munster Expects 2027 AI-Driven Hardware Upgrade Cycle, Points to 4 Beneficiary Stocks

According to Gene Munster, a managing partner at Deepwater Management, recent testing of AI development tools has revealed extreme memory consumption that can crash laptops, signaling a major hardware upgrade cycle beginning in 2027. Munster's team found that AI tools like Grok Build function as "memory hogs," consuming resources beyond the capacity of current laptops. As generative AI models advance, he expects enterprises and consumers will need devices with unified memory capacities increased from 16GB to 32GB or higher to support local AI workloads. Munster identified Apple, HP, SanDisk, and Western Digital as key beneficiaries of the anticipated hardware refresh cycle.
