ECB Raises Rates on June 11, with July Rate Hike Risk Looming

According to Montreal Bank analysts cited by Jin10, the European Central Bank is raising rates on June 11. Analysts note that ECB governing council members may be thinking "we have waited long enough—act now," and the central bank is delivering. The move makes the ECB the first G7 central bank to tighten policy since the Iran conflict began, following similar actions by the Reserve Bank of Australia and Norges Bank. With eurozone inflation remaining unrelieved and economic stagnation risks rising, policymakers face pressure to shift toward tighter monetary conditions. There is a risk of further rate increases as soon as July, the analysts warned.
