Elon Musk's xAI Acquires Mobile Power Provider APR Energy for Over $1 Billion to Support AI Data Center

According to FTC filings disclosed in July 2026, xAI completed its acquisition of APR Energy, a mobile power generation company, for over $1 billion. The deal was not publicly announced by xAI but was revealed through U.S. Federal Trade Commission regulatory documents after obtaining early termination of antitrust review.

APR Energy operates more than 1GW of mobile power capacity using trailer-mounted gas turbines and diesel generators. The acquisition aims to support xAI's Colossus supercomputer facility in Memphis, Tennessee, and planned expansion, addressing the massive electrical demands of large-scale AI infrastructure.
