FIFA General Secretary Guarantees Iran's 2026 World Cup Participation on May 16

According to sources, FIFA General Secretary Matthias Grafström will meet with Iran Football Federation officials on May 16 to guarantee Iran’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. U.S. Secretary of State Rubio previously stated that Iranian athletes would be welcome at the tournament; however, he warned that the U.S. may still prohibit entry to Iranian team members affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
