Fire at Hiroshima Shipbreaking Facility Remains Uncontrolled; 650 Evacuated on May 16

According to Jin10, a fire at a shipbreaking facility in Kure, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, continues to burn on May 16, with three fire trucks, one fire vessel, and three Japan Coast Guard patrol boats engaged in firefighting efforts. The fire began on May 14 at midday.

Local authorities issued evacuation orders for approximately 650 residents across 356 households in the surrounding area, including 26 residents and staff members from a nursing care facility, all of whom have been safely evacuated. Firefighters report the blaze remains uncontrolled.
