According to a person familiar with the matter, Fiserv held talks with major U.S. banks including JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America on Monday about selling its STAR Network, a business that routes debit, ATM, and e-commerce transactions. The network serves 115 million debit cardholders using cards issued by more than 2,800 financial institutions. Wells Fargo and PNC Financial Services Group have also held discussions in recent months, though no deal is certain. Fiserv shares rose 4.4% in after-hours trading following the reports, though the stock remains down 23% year-to-date.
