Gazprom Requires 17 Subsidiaries to Open Digital Ruble Accounts Ahead of September 1 Deadline

According to Bits.media, Gazprom has required its 17 subsidiaries to open digital ruble accounts with Russia’s central bank to comply with legislation taking effect on September 1. Under the new rules, large Russian banks and enterprises must provide customers with the ability to conduct digital ruble transactions. Russia’s central bank digital currency has been in testing since August 2023, with over 130 institutional accounts participating in the pilot as of end-2025.
