GE Vernova's Q2 Backlog Surges to $176B With 37% Growth; Stock Rebounds Overnight

GEV-8.42%
According to GE Vernova's Q2 earnings results released on Wednesday, the company's backlog grew to over $176 billion, a 37% year-on-year increase, with management on track to reach $200 billion by 2027. GEV shares edged higher overnight, reversing an 8% decline at market close. Q2 revenue reached $11.1 billion, beating estimates, though adjusted earnings per share of $2.47 missed expectations. Wind business headwinds persisted with a 40% drop in new orders. Shay Boloor, Chief Market Strategist at Futurum Equities, noted that the backlog surge reflects how customers are willing to pay years in advance to secure manufacturing slots, adding that "AI data centers cannot wait for the grid with gas turbines offering one of the fastest paths to dispatchable power."
