According to a poll by Infratest Dimap commissioned by Germany’s public broadcasting consortium, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s approval rating fell to 16% on May 8, marking the lowest level recorded since 1997. The figure represents a 5 percentage point decline from April. Additionally, 83% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction with Merz, up 7 percentage points from the previous month. The poll surveyed 1,303 German voters aged 18 and above between Monday and Wednesday via phone and online methods.
