Current Lightspark CEO and former PayPal president David Marcus, at the 2026 Bitcoin conference, unveiled a brand-new payment infrastructure called “Grid Global Account.” This product integrates fiat currency, stablecoins, and Bitcoin into a single account, and is also pioneering a mechanism that lets AI assist with managing and paying funds, providing a new solution for cross-border transfers and enterprise fund management.
Grid Global Account: Supports Visa card payments and international withdrawals
In the past, cross-border remittance fees were high and the process was slow. Since Lightspark has become a major member of Visa, users can directly use the stablecoins or digital assets in their Grid accounts to pay at any of the 175 million physical stores or online merchants worldwide that support Visa.
The system supports local payment networks in more than 65 countries worldwide. For example, a contractor located in Mexico, after receiving USD payments from a U.S. company, can convert the funds into Mexican pesos anytime within 24 hours, and immediately transfer them into the local bank account. In addition, the USD funds inside the account can be converted into stablecoins on different blockchain networks such as Solana or Optimism. Users only need a single wallet address to store, receive, and buy and sell USD stablecoins and Bitcoin at the same time.
AI agents help you shop and collect/send payments
In response to the interaction patterns of the AI era, the Grid account, in cooperation with the “Bread” wallet system, has introduced an agent authorization feature that allows AI agents to use funds within secure parameters. Users can set clear spending limits and authorization scopes for their AI. The system works based on the principle of “AI proposes a plan, the system reviews the rules, and the account is responsible for disbursing funds,” ensuring that ultimate control over the funds remains with the user.
For example, users can instruct an AI assistant inside a messaging app (such as WhatsApp) to buy coffee beans on their behalf, and the AI will automatically generate a virtual card number at checkout. Or users can instruct an AI to remit money to friends or family abroad; the AI will obtain the recipient’s local receiving account details on its own and complete the cross-border transfer. Once the transaction amount exceeds the spending cap the user set in advance, the system will pause and show a notification. The user must wait to manually click to approve before any funds are deducted.
Built on the underlying fund-flow infrastructure of the Bitcoin network
The Grid Global Account is not only available to the general public, but is also designed specifically as an underlying fund-flow infrastructure for global enterprises and cross-border platforms. For enterprises with large volumes of cross-border transactions, the high remittance fees and service charges previously skimmed by the traditional financial system can, after adopting the Grid account system, become a new revenue source for the platform, including derivative earnings from stablecoins, fiat exchange fees, or Visa card payment fees.
In addition, Lightspark chose to build this massive system architecture on the Bitcoin network precisely because it values its open and absolutely neutral characteristics. This can ensure that the payment services built by enterprises will not be controlled by any single centralized institution in the future, or face the risk of rules being changed arbitrarily.
