Gold and Brent Crude Oil See Trading Volume and Open Interest Gains on May 12, CME Data Shows

According to CME data, on May 12, gold and Brent crude oil both saw increases in trading volume and open interest. Gold trading volume rose to 192,516 contracts with open interest at 380,738 contracts, up 8,843 and 6,394 contracts respectively from the previous trading day. Brent crude oil trading volume reached 119,001 contracts with open interest at 246,898 contracts, increasing 4,827 and 2,262 contracts respectively.

In contrast, silver and natural gas declined on both metrics. Silver trading volume fell to 76,584 contracts with open interest at 103,802 contracts, down 2,609 and 617 contracts respectively. Natural gas trading volume dropped to 407,587 contracts with open interest at 1,628,192 contracts, declining 48,517 and 12,458 contracts respectively.
