According to The Korea Times, Google and Naver are moving ads into AI search tools as generative AI reshapes search behavior and raises computing costs. Google is signaling openness to ads in Gemini, while Naver plans to test answer-style ads in its AI Briefing product in the second quarter.
Naver reported first-quarter revenue rose 16.3% year-on-year to 3.2 trillion won (US$2.22 billion). The company plans to expand ad tests in AI Briefing in the second half and has partnered with ad tech firm Criteo on ad tools and commerce data integration.
