According to Google Research, a new study released last week analyzing 15 million anonymized Gemini interactions found that AI use remains shallow and collaborative, with no evidence to support claims of massive workplace automation or white-collar job displacement. The AI & Economy ATLAS research examined interactions across Gemini App, Google AI Mode, and the Gemini API, concluding that end-to-end task automation remains limited in scope. While white-collar workers in computers, finance, and arts sectors showed higher AI usage rates than occupations like food service, sales, and transportation, overall adoption patterns do not align with predictions of imminent large-scale workforce displacement.
