Hanseong Corporation, Monami, Enex Surge Up to 238% on 'Patriotic Buying' Wave; Multiple Stocks Hit Upper Limits

According to Korea Exchange, last week (July 16) shares of Hanseong Corporation, Monami, and Enex surged significantly on patriotic retail buying, with multiple stocks hitting upper daily limits. Hanseong Corporation's stock jumped 237.7% from 4,300 Korean won on July 1 to 14,520 won on July 16; Monami rose 196% from 1,260 won to 3,730 won; Enex climbed 157.5% from 1,070 won to 2,755 won over the same period. The buying wave was triggered by a strengthened delisting threshold on KOSPI, which raised the market capitalization requirement to 30 billion won, putting these legacy brands at risk. However, analysts warn that the stock surges lack earnings support—Enex posted a 22.6% revenue decline and 2.9 billion won operating loss in Q1, while Monami recorded a 2.7 billion won operating deficit—and may face sharp sell-offs once investor interest shifts elsewhere.
