According to the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), a healthcare worker from Ascension Island exhibiting hantavirus symptoms was admitted to Guy’s and St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust in London on Saturday for specialist assessment, while nine Britons potentially exposed to the virus are set to arrive in the UK on Sunday evening. The individuals from St Helena and Ascension Island are asymptomatic but will complete their self-isolation in the UK under NHS oversight. The outbreak linked to the MV Hondius cruise ship has resulted in at least 11 reported cases among passengers, with three fatalities reported to date.
