HitBTC Received $22 Million in Illicit Funds in 2026, Refused Law Enforcement Cooperation

According to Darcy, co-founder of FlashRescue, approximately $22 million in illicit funds flowed into cryptocurrency exchange HitBTC in 2026, with the platform refusing to cooperate during police investigations. Darcy noted that multiple on-chain investigators have confirmed this non-compliance pattern. In a previous Bybit theft case, $3.68 million originating from DPRK-linked money laundering networks was also traced to HitBTC, where the platform similarly declined to assist authorities.
