Hormuz Strait Tanker Traffic Plummets to 4 Vessels on Wednesday as U.S.-Iran Ceasefire Tensions Rise

According to Rystad and Kpler data, tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday (July 8) has collapsed to just 4 vessels, marking a near-total halt as U.S.-Iran tensions escalate following the 60-day ceasefire agreement signed June 17. Kpler's senior oil analyst noted that daily transits averaged 32 tankers during the ceasefire period—roughly triple the volume during active conflict from February through mid-June, though still far below pre-conflict levels.
