According to Odaily, on July 26, Nvidia CEO Huang Ren-Yuan posted his first X (formerly Twitter) post, sharing a joint open letter titled "Open Weights and U.S. Leadership in AI." However, as of now, the three major closed-source U.S. AI laboratories—OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google—have not signed the letter.

The letter was co-signed by more than 20 companies, including Nvidia, Meta, Microsoft, Palantir, CrowdStrike, IBM, ServiceNow, Hugging Face, Mistral AI, a16z, Y Combinator, and Perplexity. The open letter advocates against restricting AI distillation technology and argues that U.S. AI leadership should be measured not by a single frontier model's strength, but by the ability to build a robust, open ecosystem across all industries.
